Hy2Care is a ‘spin-off company’ of the MIRA Institute for Biomedical Technology and Technical Medicine of the University of Twente, the Netherlands focusing on the repair of traumatic cartilage defects.
Based on a proprietary technology platform, Hy2Care develops a highly advanced innovative product, the "Injectable Hydrogel", a two-components injectable and bioresorbable hydrogel for the arthroscopic treatment of cartilage defects. Our first goal is a product aiming at functional repair of cartilage defects in the knee.
The injectable hydrogels are composed of a mixture of natural polymer conjugates that cross-link in a mild enzymatic reaction. These polymers have been selected because of their biocompatibility, biological properties and ease of functionalization. Following the arthroscopic delivery of the components to the cartilage defect, a covalently crosslinked hydrogel is rapidly formed. The hydrogel integrates with the cartilage and subchondral bone matrix providing good adhesion strength of the hydrogel to the tissues.
Hy2Care’s material and technology platform has potential of a wide-spread application in the biomedical field. Please contact us to learn more about opportunities in cell therapy, veterinary medicine, bioprinting, life sciences and biotechnology.
