The event “Pilot testing: bridging the gap between the laboratory and full scale plants”- by Emiel van Kimmenade, is organized by the Brightlands Young Professionals. Are you an ambitious professional, willing to broaden your network and learn from Emiel van Kimmenade? Be welcome!
“Pilot testing: bridging the gap between the laboratory and commercial plants”
Piloting often is an important phase in the development of a new processes or catalyst. As the step from laboratory scale to industrial scale is large, experimentation at pilot scale is often required to mitigate risks and provide a proof of concept to support investment decisions. Designing a pilot plant or pilot reactor is more than just multiplying dimensions. A careful analysis is required to obtain a design that enables an assessment of those aspects that are affected by the interplay of reaction kinetics and mass and heat transfer. During this presentation, Emiel will give an idea of the challenges and possibilities involved in pilot testing. Ranging from designing aspects to practical issues such as feed and waste handling, Emiel will give you an impression based on his own experiences at SABIC.
