Chengdu Medical City opens Brightlands Technology & Innovation Exhibition Centernovember 3, 2016
The initiative for the new Brightlands Technology & Innovation Exhibition Center in Chengdu came from Brightlands’ partners in China. A delegation from the Province of Limburg, headed by former deputy prime minister Maxime Verhagen, will attend the opening ceremony in Chengdu on 3 November 2016.
Brightlands China Center and Chengdu Medical City signed an agreement in May 2016 to encourage closer cooperation in the life sciences between the partners in Limburg and China. The companies and institutions located on the four Limburg-based Brightlands campuses are seeking interested research partners and commercial investors in Maastricht’s Sister City, Chengdu.
The new Exhibition Center is a permanent facility that will inform researchers, entrepreneurs and investors in China about businesses and institutes already located on the Brightlands Campuses. The Center naturally also provides information on Maastricht University, Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC+), the City of Maastricht, and the Province of Limburg. The delegation from Limburg is making grateful use of the occasion and has a packed schedule of meetings with potential partners, for example in government and business.
‘It is impressive to see how quickly the Memorandum of Understanding with Chengdu Medical Center, signed during the visit of DG Shen Ji of the Sichuan Department of Health to Limburg in May of this year, resulted in a concrete partnership in the form of this exhibition. It is a prime example of the added value a formal bond of friendship can have, one that serves as the foundation for a partnership that works toward achieving common goals,’ says Maxime Verhagen, advisor and ambassador to the Province of Limburg.
