On October 1st Brightlands Smart Services Campus was introduced at the so-called “Three Digital Days” (organized by the City of Heerlen) by its CEO Peter Verkoulen. About 100 participants joined the meeting and talkshow afterwards.
The public got a sneak preview of the Brightlands Smart Services Campus and its knowledge institute on Campus – called the Business Intelligence and Smart Services Institute (BISS). Also, they got the vision on Campus of an entrepreneur (inno.com) and a young professional explained how he expects to benefit from and add value to the Campus. Also, the broader cooperation possibilities under the Brightlands approach were elucidated by means of a presentation of the Brightlands Chemelot Campus. “Knowledge Crossing Borders” was implemented literally at the Three Digital Days: the first day took place in Belgium where entrepreneurs and academics pitched innovations in Healthcare. The second day took place in Germany where entrepreneurs and academics pitched innovations in technology and retail. The last day Brightlands Smart Services Campus, entrepreneurs, startups and companies shared proven concepts, new ideas and expectations of smart services and big data.
Although the Campus will formally open in the Summer of 2016, it has already started with Peter Verkoulen (CEO of the Smart Services Campus) and Rudolf Müller (Scientific Director of BISS). A brief ceremony marked the informal start of activities in Heerlen at those Three Digital Days.
