Ton Voncken appointed acting director of Bio Treat Center

may 28, 2017

The founders of the Bio Treat Center (BTC) have appointed Ton Voncken as acting director. He will shape the organization and convert the former Waterpaviljoen (water pavilion) at Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo to a creative incubator for biomass value creation.

Voncken has extensive experience with partnerships between entrepreneurs. Doing business with others and developing new bio-based business is familiar turf for him. He will be combining this position with his work for Groen Gas Nederland and InnovatieLink, organizations active in work fields that focus on biomass, sustainable energy and green raw materials.

Incubator for open innovation
The Bio Treat Center is an incubator for open innovation in biomass value creation. Entrepreneurs, researchers and students join forces here to give the bio-based economy a boost. At the BTC, in addition to work stations in the offices, a workshop has also been created with machines and installations for processing biomass in a variety of ways. Semi-finished products can also be studied further at the on-site laboratory.

Entrepreneurs with a focus on biomass and who are interested in joining in the BTC are more than welcome. The goal of the BTC is to set up a learning community of businesses, education and research institutes with a focus on the bio-based economy. Anyone who is already active or is interested in becoming active in this area is more than welcome to join us. For further information: www.biotreatcenter.nl

Brightlands campus
The new incubator is part of the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo. At this campus - one of the four Brightlands campuses in Limburg - it’s all about healthy nutrition. Innovators from business, science and education work together here on innovations in healthy nutrition, plant breeding and growing, and alternative raw materials and food sources.
