Brightlands China Center received top health sector delegation from Sichuanjune 24, 2016
A 14-person delegation (health policy makers, health industry players and hospital managers) led by Mr. Shen Ji, Director-General of the Sichuan Health Commission, the top government department for Health in Sichuan province, China, visited the Netherlands on 24-27 May 2016. Brightlands China Center worked closely with local and national partners on a 4-day intensive program for their visit. The program demonstrated excellence of the Dutch health system, innovative and dynamic Life Sciences and Health sector in Limburg, and enhanced collaboration between the provinces Limburg and Sichuan.
Brightlands China Center, located in Maastricht, in cooperation with Task Force Health Care, the Ministry of Health, and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Beijing, organized their visit to Rotterdam on 24 May. The Director-General of Curative Care from the Ministry of Health of the Netherlands, Mr. Bas van Dungen, hosted the dinner on 24 May, emphasizing the importance of the cooperation between the Netherlands and Sichuan province. The excellence of the Dutch healthcare system was demonstrated and the delegates were impressed and inspired.
Brightlands China Center worked closely with Province Limburg to host this delegation from 25 - 27 May in Limburg. During these 3 days, the delegation visited Province Limburg, Brightlands Maastricht Health Campus, Scannexus, European Medical Training Center (EM-TRAC), Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC+), Maastricht University (UM), Zuyd University, Zuyderland hospital, Trilandis/Avantis Heerlen, Abbott Vascular and UPS Medical Logistics Center in Roermond. The key projects of the region including hospital projects, PhD recruitment program, medical and health training in cardiology, neuroscience, and elderly care were addressed.
Mr. Theo Bovens, the governor of Province Limburg, recounted the cooperation between Limburg and Sichuan, especially in the area of Life Sciences and Health. Mr. Bovens was also a witness to the signing of two important letters of intent: One between Brightlands China Center and Chengdu Health Service Industry Chamber of Commerce (HSCOC), the other between Brightlands China Center and Chengdu International Health City’s Medical Headquarters. The strategic partnerships will lead to possible joint incubation projects in Maastricht as well as the establishment of the Brightlands China Center Technology Exhibition and Trade Center in Chengdu. The affiliates and partners of the Brightlands China Center in our region will enjoy the benefits of having access to flexible workspace when visiting Chengdu, marketing and promoting their technology and products in China, accessing and accelerating time to Chinese market, and getting support from our Chinese partners in the area of business development and acquisition.
During their visit the 8-person delegation from HSCOC also participated in a China networking event jointly organised by Brightlands China Center, WijLimburg and Baat Accountants and Advisors, held at Kasteel Hoogenweerth. The goal of the seminar was to extend networks and exchange experiences on China business for more successful future acquisitions. There were more than 120 participants from various organisations in Limburg, with key speakers from Province Limburg, Brightlands China Center, DSM, Banbao, KDX Europe and 2 representatives from Chengdu JustGood Health Group and Jin Dou Yun incubator.
One of the highlights of the 3-day program in Limburg was a targeted matchmaking event, where 6 companies from the campus met the HSCOC delegation to pitch potential partnership opportunities, specifically targeting cell therapy, oncology, precision medicine, medical imaging, nano medicine and innovative medical devices. The companies which participated are: Neuroplast, CiMaas, PT Therapeutics, PS Medtech, Cristal Therapeutics and NovioSense.
As medical logistics is one of the main focus areas of Brightlands China Center, visits to Abbott Vascular, Trilandis, Avantis, and UPS Supply Chain Solutions in Roermond were incorporated to demonstrate the strength of Limburg as a hotspot for medical logistics and for future medical logistics cooperation.
