Fauske & Associates, LLC starts branch at Brightlands campus

november 10, 2016

Fauske & Associates, LLC has started a branch at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Sittard-Geleen (NL) by taking over activities formerly carried out by the DSM process safety laboratory. Fauske & Associates, with head office in Chicago, is a process safety engineering firm and testing lab – known as a world leader in nuclear, industrial and chemical process safety.

At the Brightlands campus the American company Fauske & Associates (FAI) continues the activities of DSM in the area of process safety, particularly testing of reactive chemicals and consulting.

Simon Hans Niemann, Manager of Process Safety Services at Fauske & Associates, says: “We work for the process industry, particularly the chemical industry. We determine potential risks related to the chemistry of the process under consideration and we provide advice on how to mitigate those risks. We also provide training.
FAI is involved not only in the safety evaluation for new plants and processes, but also in reviewing potential risks at existing plants. Niemann: “Our focus is on the process safety of technical installation, not so much on behavioral aspects.

Niemann adds: “Our new branch is supported by the extensive laboratories and expertise at Fauske & Associates in the USA, as such, we can use these abilities to support our services in Europe.

ExELect workshops
The FAI acquisition of the DSM activities involved two employees with extensive experience in process scale-up, thermal stability testing and consultancy (including Niemann). This consultancy includes so-called ExELect workshops with explosivity demos. During these workshops many aspects of working with flammable and explosive substances are discussed.

Niemann says: “Fauske chose to the Brightlands campus, because here we are in the proximity of chemical research, development and manufacturing, and we are conveniently located in the center of Europe.
