Industrial parks in Limburg and China tighten bondsapril 26, 2017
On 25 April 2017, Chemelot, represented by Brightlands Chemelot Campus and Sitech Services, and Maoming Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (MHIDZ) and Maoming Maonan Petrochemical Industrial Park in China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The collaboration includes a master plan, an industry plan, maintenance and management consultancy, and scientific cooperation.
Earlier, on 15 October 2016, the mayors of the municipalities of Maoming in China and Sittard-Geleen signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The objective is to promote friendly exchange and cooperation, which is now elaborated in the document signed by the chemical parks.
Maoming and Maonan
The Maoming Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone and the Maonan Petrochemical Industrial Park in the Guandong Province constitute one of the largest petrochemical production sites in China. The activities range from oil refining, ethylene, fine chemicals, new chemical materials, and basic organic chemicals.
The ambition is to further develop these activities.
Chemelot is one of the largest chemical sites in Europa, where an industrial park is combined with a chemicals and materials campus. At Brightlands universities and major companies collaborate on cutting-edge chemicals and materials research. Sitech Services is the service provider for the Chemelot site and provides specialized services to the companies on site.
The ambition is to become the most competitive and sustainable materials and chemicals site in Western-Europe.
MHIDZ and Maoming Maonan Petrochemical Industrial Park consider park operations by Chemelot as a best-practice example for its own chemical site development. They take the companies at Chemelot as the key companies to attract investments from the Netherlands.
In return, Chemelot
considers MHIDZ and Maoming Maonan Petrochemical Industrial Park as partners of
choice to seek promotion of Chemelot as a production and R&D hub towards
potential investors from the Guangdong Province. Moreover, they introduce Chemelot
to universities and institutes working on topics like Green Chemistry, Bio-based
materials, PtX, Sustainable (Process) Technologies, Process intensification,
Energy storage, and Electrochemistry.
The cooperation between the parties entails learning visits, support in park technologies, and operation models. It may also be considered to develop a Sino-Dutch (Maoming) Chemical Industry Park in Maoming City. Based on the signed document, further agreements must be made.
