Provincial governors from Limburg pay official visit to Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlonovember 17, 2017
On November 16th and 17th, Herman Reynders and Theo Bovens, provincial governors of the Dutch and Belgian provinces of Limburg, paid an official visit to the “two Limburgs”. The idea behind these visits is that both Dutch and Belgian Limburg have plenty of interesting things to offer, and can bundle their strengths in doing so.
Provincial Governor Theo Bovens: “The Netherlands and Flanders can both benefit from stronger cross-border relationships. Our hope is to reinforce this with this official visit.” They are visiting organizations where the central themes are the vitalization of society and innovative development. Provincial Governor Herman Reynders: “We will be visiting places that might not the obvious choices, with the goal of learning new things from one another and discovering previously unknown ‘trump cards’.”
A visit to Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, among others, was on the agenda. In addition to presentations on the concepts of city-farming and lab foods, the delegation from Limburg will also be learning about the latest developments at Maastricht University’s TIM Lab (gastro-intestinal research), BrightLabs (lavender test) and Brightbox (LED-grown lettuce).
Saskia Goetgeluk, CEO of Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, believes that cooperation between entrepreneurs and knowledge institutes on both sides of the border is essential. “At Brightlands, these partnerships manifest themselves in the form of concrete projects, programs, research and products.”
